Dato' Dr Tan Tat Wai

Dato' Dr. Tan Tat Wai, born in 1946, was appointed to the Board in November 1991. He is currently the Group Managing Director of Southern Steel Berhad, a post he has held since December 1993 and sits on the board of Shangri-La Hotels (Malaysia) Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad and NatSteel Ltd, Singapore. He is also the President of Hospital Lam Wah Ee, and a member of the Council of Wawasan Open University. In 1978, Dato' Dr. Tan started his career with Bank Negara Malaysia ("BNM") undertaking research in economic policies. In May 1984, Dato' Dr. Tan was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer as well as a Director of Southern Steel Berhad, In September 1990, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Southern Steel Berhad.
