Mr. Albert Y. Chao

Albert Y. Chao, born in 1949, was appointed to the Board in January 1998. He has over 30 years of international experience in the petrochemical industry. He served as President of Westlake from 1996 to 2004 and is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Westlake, a position he took up in July 2004. In 1986, Albert Y. Chao assisted Datuk TT Chao and Datuk James Y. Chao in founding the Westlake Chemical Corporation, where he served as Executive Vice President until he succeeded Datuk James Y. Chao as President. He has held positions in the Controller's Group of Mobil Oil Corporation, in the Technical Department of Hercules Incorporated and in the Plastics Group of Gulf Oil Corporation. He also served as Assistant to the Chairman of China General Plastics Group and Deputy Managing Director of a plastics fabrication business in Singapore.

Albert Y. Chao holds a Bachelor's Degree from Brandeis University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University.
