Titan Chemicals Announce RM1.0 million Donation for Tsunami Relief
Titan Chemicals today announced a RM1.0 million donation pledge over the next 3
years towards the Tsunami relief and reconstruction. The mock-cheque was
handed over by Tan Sri Dato' Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, Director of Titan
Chemicals to YAB. Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
at the Malaysian Strategic Outlook Conference 2005 held this morning.
Titan Chemicals made the initial contribution of RM100,000 towards the
Malaysian Tsunami Disaster Fund on 26 January 2005.
"We join the global community in expressing our deepest sympathy and support for
the victims and survivors of this tragedy. Titan Chemicals has a strong
tradition of commitment to the communities in which we operate, and we are
privileged to be able to extend our support to aid in the long-term
reconstruction and relief efforts of the Tsunami disaster. We are
committed to ensure that our funds are channeled to support suitable and
effective relief initiatives, including to certain relief efforts which are
already underway within the affected regions," said Hamad.
In addition to the RM1.0 million pledge, Titan Chemicals have also launched an
employee donation drive whereby its staff contributions towards the Tsunami
fund will be matched ringgit for ringgit.
